News from the By-Laws Committee

THE BY-LAWS COMMITTEE WILL MAKE A MOTION TO CHANGE THE FOLLOWING BYLAWS AT THE  FALL, 2017 MEETING.

ARTICLE V – AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION

SECTION 1.

A. The Association shall have full power at any meeting to alter, amend, or revise this constitution and by-laws by a vote of two-thirds of the active members of the Association present. Provided that the official notice of the meeting, sent out by the Secretary of the Association, shall have contained the proposed alteration, amendment, or revision, with a minimum of ten days notice in advance of the meeting. Official notice may also be posted on the Georgia Coroners Association Website with a minimum of 20 days notice in advance of the meeting.

Provided that the official notice of the meeting, is posted on the Georgia Coroners Association web site a minimum of 20 days in advance of the meeting.

SECTION 3.

A. Special sessions of the Association shall be notified in writing by United States mail of the holdings of any meeting of the association, and such notices shall be mailed by the Secretary at least ten days in advance of the meeting.

To be amended to read: Special sessions of the Association shall be posted on the Georgia Coroners Association Website and yahoogroups email, at least 10 days in advance of the meeting.

ARTICLE III – COMMITTEES

SECTION 4.

A. The Nominating committee for the association officers and executive board members will consist of five (5) members, the three (3) most immediate past presidents of the association, the current serving 1st Vice President, and the At- Large Executive Director. The most immediate past president will serve as chairman of the committee. The required minimum number of committee members present to conduct nominations shall be three (3).

To be amended to read: The Nominating committee for the association officers and executive board members will consist of five (5) members, the three (3) most immediate past presidents of the association, the current serving 1st Vice President, and a Coroner to be appointed by the President of the Association. The most immediate past president will serve as chairman of the committee. The required minimum number of committee members present to conduct nominations shall be three (3).
